Holy shit I forgot that Hayne was only 23.

Everyone is way too harsh on him, he has the talent to be anything with the right attitude.

The club he is with will determine a large part of this.

My bad - I guess it just feels like he was sacked because of everything that went on that year. Fuuck it was an ugly time.

It's funny what you say about Fittler, because in the back end of '07 and in '08 he actually set up some very nice set pieces for us, from memory using Tupou and guys like Paea. They worked pretty bloody well when the poofters in pink (or was it yellow back then) didn't pull us up for obstruction.

I reckon he would help out our halves a fair bit. In my (biased) eyes he is the greatest to pull on a boot, and I'd love to have him back at the club.

I reckon Freddo did OK as a coach. I'm pretty certain a lot of his tactical stuff came from Gus and pRicky. Looking at Freddos playing career, he was a natural. He played often outside structure, he used instinct. And as we all know instinct is the hardest thing to teach. Blokes like Wally Lewis discovered that. Often the best coaches weren't the best players, they were the most analytical about the game, but physically didn't have the skills to implement often.

I reckon Freddo could make a good 1/2s coach. But I feel he's happy just being Freddo, doing his media stuff and having a good time. He played for fun, you can't coach for fun. You need to be intense and hardened. Freddo is a legend IMO, just maybe too good a bloke to coach, especially full time. As part of a rep structure, like Smell Mafinger, that's where Freddo would go well, helping pRicky, which he sorta does now.
