I replied to buddy's question by telling him that I wanted to have a think about the different players and options available first.

I did that for a little while today and then agreed with big mike that picking a fullback from the lower grades would be what I would do.

Thinking about players and different options must be something that is foreign to you. But that is ok, you stick to supporting your mate smith, he is doing a great job, its not his fault the way that we are playing, he is only the coach.

I know he played some 5/8 also, so who else was trialled at fullback pre-season??

Although seriously I cant think of anyone in the first grade squad who can play there so might as well use the player in that position in the lower grades - that is after all part of the reason for the lower grades.

Thats what Im basing my selection., He was given some time at Fullback. His suport play is better than anyone's at teh momnet and his strile rate is good. he can score a try. We dont have anyone else in teh team that knows he will ground the ball for a try if he's in teh clear. The others either worry about dropping it or cant get to ground it. No confidence, we are shit scred of scoring because we feel we have to score every set. No patience. No plan No buildup., In those circumstances Mortein will excel as the only bloke that knows where the try line is.

Mortein for fullback.....or 5/8. We need him more than Moth and Anasta

Yes I do support Smith. I also wrote about his enigma as a coach and think his coaching is not having a positive affect on or improving certain players - Friend, Pearce, BJ, Mose are not getting better under Smith and it can be confidently argued they are getting worse under him. But he is the coach and nothing you or I say or do will change that. And whilever he is in charge I will hope he turns us around.
