  • OFFICIAL MATCH DAY THREAD: Roosters NSW Cup and Flegg

Just having a bit of fun as I’m off to watch the Roosters Flegg and NSW cup at Wentworth Oval today.

Looking forward to seeing Tavita Henare-Schuster, Whyte and Sandon Smith go around.

Bit frustrating to see Sandon Smith switched to hooker, perhaps seeing if he can handle it for first grade utility role ?

    Who are the Chooks playing?
I would hate being a halfback & then getting moved to number 9.
Most number 9’s in FG were halfbacks or 5/8’s in their junior days but to go from the prestige halfback position to the engine room is a tough gig.

Possible that Sandon has moved to hooker because they’re looking at whether he can be used as a utility in first grade given than Smith is out for two months.

To me Sandon is like a poor man’s Walker

They are different types of player. Sandon Smith is a controlling halfback that gets his team around the park and puts players through gaps. Not much off the cuff razzle dazzle like Walker but perhaps that is what first grade is missing someone to organize and give quality ball to Manu, Teddy instead of them trying to do everything on their own

Perhaps developing him into our next 14. Faster than tug. Gutsy defender who has now played 6 7 1 and 9.

As you watched Jersey Flegg can you confirm/clarify the stats on Watisoni Waqanisaravi ( Jersey 15 ) - listed as 167 cm and 119 kgs - I think he is taller than that - only from watching him on NSWRL TV though - Very powerful runner of the ball and defender

I rate him - A 19 year old Silktails player one of 4 that trained with the Jersey Fegg side in pre-season training

Be interested on your views on other players in Jersey Flegg and NSW Cup

Seriously? In old money that's 5 feet 6 inches and close to 19 stone. He'd potentially be the shortest player in the comp and weigh more than Artie Beetson in his prime. Is he shaped like a sphere? I have visions of that Indiana Jones ball rolling over defenders.

12-6 after 20mins , not a great standard so far , Wong and Whyte best for Roosters

HT: 10-17, our OB’s are all pretty terrible, definitely no 1st grade prospects.

That's what it says - I have doubts about the height mentioned unless the Roosters Jersey Flegg Players are short in statue as well

I think 187 cm is more like it

                              Watisoni Waqanisaravi
