Now everyone wants back the same blokes who were "no great loss" like The Pillow and Tamou and Albino and Fat Hodgo.
Seriously some of you blokes have http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgukd...e_gdata_player .
But of course the chorus will start, led by Fredo69er, on how they all KNEW it was wrong and how they all SAID so to their mothersbrotherssistersunclescousingdog at the time.

What did you think about Hodges, Tamou, Hannant and Shillington leaving?
I find it hard to believe you picked all those mate.

In all honesty;
Mason - Always have and always will hate this cancer, never wanted him at the club
O'Meley - Was good iin his first year but then looked old and slow in his 2nd year
Anasta - Has always been a myth and he was another that I never wanted at the club.
Hodges - Great player but a deadset knob
Tamou - Gutted when I found out he was leaving as even in the 20's he looked good, but hopefully we won't make the same mistake with Kane Evans
Hannant - Wasn't fussed either way
Shillington - Disappointed we lost him, but we could never match the money Canberra threw at him

Hodges I was always a fan of, but I understood why he wanted to leave, I know the story there. Hannett well he's shown his loyalty qualities over the last few seasons, $$$$. Tamou was just an untried kid, I didn't really care TBH. And Pillow I never really rated and still don't. Good player peewee Herman voice, fair go if he wanted to leave I believe the deal he was offered was alot better than we could do for him.
All that said I'm not on here bagging our recruitment and retention policies. So really I shouldn't need to answer this question. But I did cos I respect your right to ask it. And I fear not the reprisals cos I don't believe in looking back and using hind site to cover my rather large arse.
Hopefully I cause some debate with my fishing expo though.

We couldn't have kept Fat Hodgo even if we threw the bank at him..
Money had nothing to do with him leaving..
He was unhappy because of off field matters with senior members of the team at the time,& the situation became untennable..
I was sick in the stomach when he left, but i knew there were no other options..

Myles - i didnt know too much about him when he signed but what i do recall is that we only signed him after failing to lure pritchard away from penrith. did however think that the big coin we threw at him to lure him away from the dogs was exorbitant but he was young, tough and talented so hard to criticise the club on this one
Mason - Always have and always will hate this cancer, never wanted him at the club
O'Meley - Was good iin his first year but then looked old and slow in his 2nd year
Anasta - In all honesty, he was the best 6 availiable at the time so its hard to criticise the club on this one imo
Hodges - Great player but a deadset knob - he wanted to leave to 'go home' so not much the club could have done
Tamou - Gutted when I found out he was leaving as even in the 20's he looked good, but hopefully we won't make the same mistake with Kane Evans
Hannant - always shown to be a good talent but like hodges, didnt want to stay so what can you do... i have since developed a distaste for him considering he had no qualms about returning to sydney on the coin the dogs offered him
Shillington - Disappointed we lost him, but we could never match the money Canberra threw at him

IMO Tamous very lucky, he's really a Kiwi. I've been very critical of the QLD Kiwi converts, I have to be honest and be the same even though Tamous a blue. Besides I don't think he deserves a spot cos of a good start to the season. Weyman and Leroyd-Lars have earned their spots with good form over many seasons and both are playing well currently.
Still good luck to the young bloke.
while i agree he is a kiwi, havent they got/had a few ex-aussies in their sides over the years and not to mention that their ex-australians didnt grow up or mature in NZ but made the switch as established first graders for a shot at the big time. apart from being born in NZ, tamou has been on australian soil since so has just as much right as any if not more than the likes of fien to be wearing the jumper of his country of choice.
On the other test selections, boyd is an absolute disgrace. so overrated and has been disgraceful so far this year for a 'marquee' signing. how could they have not gone for morris. it baffles the mind. the rest of the pack i can more or less deal with. taylor is a so so selection and maybe a prop would have been deserving but taylor is in pretty good form and will give us some size and power but i agree that gallen should be at lock. just because he can play like a prop doesnt mean that you should limit his game to that very thing because thats definitely not all he's good for and playing him as a battering ram will see him soon suffer the fate on hindmarsh being sever burn out and one-dimensionalityLast edited by roz; 04-17-2012, 03:45 PM.

Now I've been very vocal in my criticisms of QLD with kHunt, Carroll, Inglis, Kaufisi, Villasanti etcetcetc. I would be the ultimate hypocrite if I backflipped cos it suited now.
IMO the reason they pinched Fien, Webb etc is a payback for the MANY QLD Kiwis out there. I have no probs with a Mason or Folau who grew up here playing for Australia, although Folau grew up with Hayne in Minto, so he's a NSWelshman.
IMO Weyman, Petrol70calitre and Leroyd-Lars are far more deserving of that spot Tamou has been gifted, for political reasons. On form and years of it alone they deserve their shot, not counting they're Aussies. That's just my opinion the form bit of course.
That said I am Australian and will always support my country and those that wear the jumper. Same with the RWB.
If we'd just let the best players play origin, irrespective of country of origin, we wouldn't have this argument. Sign your 1st contract. Where were you born??? What state do you want to represent, NSW or QLD??? Would solve all probs and make international footy alot stronger and more palatable to watch for those of us who believe in the jumper.

Tamou on the other hand I don't blame. It would be very tempting, the chance to play origin. pRicky IMO is doing what I hate about QLD doing, pressuring a young bloke to choose an origin jumper over a National jumper.
And we all criticize the fact Test footy is second rate to origin. There's a reason for that, we are seeing it played out again.
As I said change the rules. Make it so EVERYONE can play for their country and state of choice. I bet the Tamous and kHunts would then play for NZ. It's not as if Origin is a genuine battle for the Aussie side. It hasn't been that since the 80s.
