I have been waiting to see this game again after all these years, i remember Souths playing over us for most of the game after letting in a soft try to Marty Gurr early but Easts coming back in the last 15 mins and Terry Fahey having a try disallowed with only minutes to go which could have leveled the scores if converted, being at the game sitting on the Paddo hill i had a fairly clear view of him grounding it and as Rabbs said he thought he had slammed it down. Oh well, Souths were clearly the better side as some of our defence was awful but that try disallowed robbed the game of a great finish.

Yes. From memory Sydney had heavy rain all week to the lead up to this round and when it came to game day a lot of grounds were still in poor conditions so some games were cancelled and played at a later date. The Saturday game was played but with the 5 games on Sunday only 2 went ahead and this was why we had the telecast match that day. The Sports Ground was in top condition after all the rain Sydney received during the week. Sitting on the Paddo hill i had a great view of John Harvey's freakish catch for that spectacular try. I remember the next day Les Boyd whinging in the papers that he was denied a fair try , this clip shows clearly it was no try.Originally posted by Hawkeye View Post
I saw this the other day and can definately remember that day at the SSG when Harvey took that freakish catch from Don Mosely.
That Eagle Eric loads plenty of highlights from the 70's on Youtube ...love watching his stuff !
So many great games i can remember and would love to see again especially from the 1976 to 1983 era.

Jeff Orfords try was a pearler and then from the kick off Salvo comes up with the head butt and is sent off and all but ends our season with that split second of madness, we were on top of the table coming into this clash but started the slide down the table with this loss.Originally posted by Recky62 View Post
The other thing that i remember was after this game was the tragic loss of Ben Alexander that night.
