      Sentences should reflect the message that the courts want to convey, to anyone contemplating a similar action.
      Very weak message imo.

        Given that he pleaded not guilty, and thus showed no remorse, it's astonishingly light I reckon

              Yeah I agree. On one hand banned from footy for life is pretty bad, there goes his livelihood. However, jail would have been a whole lot worse.

                    exactly. what is to stop a player at the end of his career risking it? chance to make a couple hundred thousand but if he gets caught a slap on the wrist and a few thousand dollars in fines.
