  • Salary cap to increase by $300k next year

apparently there is an interesting article to be printed in the telecrap in the morning outlining how the NRL are going to lift the salary cap by $300k by giving the clubs the proceeds they are going to receive from the NSW government for continuing to stage the NRL grand final in Sydney for the next 5 years, if this is true we are well and truely screwed, all the players we are targeting will likely stay with their current clubs thanks to the increase in the salary cap.

it could be a case of having significant room under the salary cap but no one to spend it on.

maybe the increase in the salary cap explains why there are quite a few players playing in the English Super League being linked with having stints in Australia.

I wonder why it is happening now, given that the NRL were adament that nothing will change for years to come re the cap.
I take note of what is said re the extra monies to be distributed, however I can't help but wonder if it is in fact a way around cap issues for the Storm next year. Will they will still have to get rid of some players as penalty for breaches of the cap? or will there be a change of heart in light of legal challenges by some of the board. I await the next exciting episode of "The Lord of the Cap"

The Tellucrapp did its standard polls and online blogs and have calculated theres a great chance Gullop and NewsRL will look good if they apply another bandaid to RL.

And maybe it will take some focus from the so-called Independent NewsRL Comission??

      The FlogPen .

      You know it makes sense.
