When a rep player moves from a top 4 club for a pay increase across to a team that is struggling they tend to miss out on representative selection. In this case it is Jerome Luai. Comfortably the games best 6 imo and dropped for Mitchell Moses. FFS !
One only needs to watch a replay of the previous 4 grand finals to see the class of Luai. Laurie Daley and the selectors have NFI!! The same thing happened to his team mate Api Koroisau when he left the Panthers.
An elite player doesn't forget how to play top-line footy. His influence on a game will vary and can drop significantly based on playing within a weaker side. He should not be dropped for this reason! A good coach and selector should have the foresight to see this. Any wonder Daley was previously dumped. I'm surprised he didn't convince Gallen to come out of retirement.
Luai and Cleary have played together since they were 13. Regardless of this season and playing for a different club, one would think that their combination is hard wired.
