Almost bought a town house in Port Macquarie about 12-14 years ago and the plan was to split my time between Sydney and Port Macquarie when i retired, the place was a bargain and now there is no way i could afford anything in Port without selling Sydney which i would never do. But as you say about Husky as much as i love Port Mac and even though it has great infrastructure in place there are things i find it lacks compared to where i live in Sydney.

So apart from Summer and winter, when’s the best time to travel to England and Scotland? I’m thinking September / October
(yep I know it’s footy finals time) or May? I want to avoid the crowds in summer.

September is still a nice time of year up that way

Ok excellent. I still want it to be nice and warm but less crowds with the locals on holidays. Also it would be cheaper, hopefully.

Whilst I can’t guarantee warm weather the days are still long in September, plenty of daylight to see all the sights. Scotland particularly the North and the highlands have some beautiful scenery. I travelled all the way up to John O Groats which is the top of Scotland. In fact in about a period of 6 weeks in the winter I went from Lands End the southern most part of English mainland all the way to John O Groats. This was not planned but by the time lifes events whilst there, strange things happen when you travel alone. I met a girl in Edinburgh and we instantly clicked together completely shaven head but stunning looker turned out she had cancer beat it then it came back was travelling one last time It shook me up a bit The day she went back home I left Edinburgh got on the 1st coach that went to Glasgow partied up there like a madman for about four nights I knew I needed some peace and quiet to get my head right so this took me me up to Inverness. Got the last coach of the night I always think if I hadn’t got the coach I might still be in Glasgow Getting up to Inverness which was recommended to me by Kelly by day 2 I knew with what had happened having been to the bottom of UK I now had to keep going all the way to the top. In its ism way it was part of a grieving process like I said knowing Kelly whom I got very close to was going home to die shook me up

PS I always feel really sad when I tell anyone that story Such a young woman who was full of life and one of the best people persons I’d ever met We’d go out all night and hardly pay for a drink. That is life though some of us are only here for a short time some of us a bit longer We should try to be grateful for each day and what we have

Seeing this is the travel thread and we are encouraged to share stories of travel My journey to my time spent in the UK commenced 2 years before I went their Met and English girl through work colleagues and friends We spent some time together things didnt quite work out but we remained friends ( there was always a connection I just hadnt worked out what it was ) and kept in contact when she went home I was invited and always encouraged to come over to UK by this girl A bit over a year later with my life in a rut and needing to get away from some of my lunatic friends whom were going off the rails bringing me down as well (I wasnt helping myself there) I decided to go over travel and get away

Once again things didnt quite work out but in that time Id made other friends/ contacts there Im lucky I am outgoing enough to find it easy meet people wherever I go should I want to. Through one of these contacts I ended up in Leeds where again I made a lot of friends both male and female One whom I met there was an instant connection we went out a few times but didnt take things too seriousl as I was moving on. She did though mention she wanted to hitch hike to London I like dthe idea as I had to go there at some stage to get a visa to go to Poland I said I am heading further North for a look and on my way down we will hook up and do it. We agreed on that I moved on

From there via Manchester Liverpool I ended up in Edinburgh wheer I met kelly whom I mentioned in my previous post here We got close but that was not meant to be she didnt have long to go She did though ask me if there were other or more the point how many ither girls there were whilst I was travelling Her words bot mine was you are a good looking guy youd have girls everywhere I mentioned the girl from Leeds and what we had planned She encouraged me to do it when I was ready which I did

The story in all of this is Along the way in life we meet lost of people some you meet for a real reason they set you up on your journey The three girls Ive mentioned here are three of the most influential people along with My Daughters Mother as to where I am and even who i am today Each of them had a role in that tey gave me or sent me in a direction in life There are times I think about them and I speak about them to people the gril I met in Edunburgh knew about the girl in Leeds and how or why I cam to be here The Girl from Leeds whom I ended up spending 7 years with knew about Kelly whom I met in Edinburgh and how I ended up being in the UK My Daughters Mother knew about all of them and Mrs Walker knows about all of them None of them had a shred of jealousy about them others, they realised these people played a role in where I was or am at the time and part of what makes me myself That is why all of them are or were good Women

Right now Im happy where I am I am though one of those people who doesnt forget where he came from or how I got to where I am. One thing Im glad on is that when all these people left my life ( besides Mrs Walker who hopefully never does ) I chose to move on pretty quickly from it and move on to the next chapter in life I think those who recover quickest from lifes set backs recover best

For me that trip to the UK and taking charge of my life then and every other time things have gone pear shaped in my life is why I am where I am today and in a very good place
