  • A song from my teenage days. Early new wave. I don’t know how I would have coped without music during high school.

It was so on point vocally, that I thought she must be miming. But I don't think she was. A sad loss, pure talent.
It was such a great performance and glad i was there to see it, yes i reckon she was singing live, sitting up high the stage and whole production looked magnificent. A very sad day when she passed,

It took me back to when that song really resonated with me in the early 80s when it was released. I had just finished the HSC and moved out of home to another town for the first time. Good songs from the past often evoke a particular memory or time in our lives. Im sure we all have had an "Orchard Road" in our own lives, metaphorically speaking.

          Great song Jack.
Great that you are getting out walking, since i had my clot in my leg i have struggled to walk properly, some days i can do okay, other day i struggle to even do the 15 min walk to the local shopping centre. Having physio which is helping but want to get back to walking properly as i really like it, since finishing work and having the clot at the time i finished i have put on about 8-9 kilos which i know i have to lose. i usually get to the gym at Allianz Stadium twice a week to use the exercise bike and do about between 10-12 km each time, my doctor said the gentleness of the bike is good for the arthritis in my hip ( hopefully i can hold off on a replacement ), i also do some stretching in the pool depending on the weather but i want to get out walking in full again

Anyway i better get back on topic before i get roused on by AW for not being on topic and not posting clips .

When i first heard So Long i thought it sung by Fine Young Cannibals. I thought the main vocalist sounded a bit like Roland Gift

Sounds like you're doing your bit to get back on track mate. You had an excuse though, not sure what mine was. I think you're a couple of years senior to me, but as we get older it gets harder to keep weight off. I was shocked into action when I jumped on the scales a couple of months ago, and was over 100kg! I almost dropped my double caramel cream pie. My fighting weight is more 85 or up to 90kg max. As well as the walks I'm doing a bit more strength and flexibility stuff at home incl some weights. Mobility is the key. Anyway, as you said Connie will be getting restless, better play a toon.

That was one of Mum’s favourites Jack and I do remember we chatted about that song on here many years ago now. That whole album is very special to me as we had it on vinyl. She also loved Heart Stop Beating in Time. Thanks for sharing and the reminder.

That makes me happy to read about your walking but please stay safe in the heat. Thank goodness it will be 21 on Saturday as I’m heading over to Randwick early to see my accountant and will walk the 4.5 km back home. I’ve mapped out a trail past my old shop and then down past my adopted ‘Uncle’ Max Presnell’s place, past Waverley Oval and then down very steep Wellington St. According to ‘Where Is”.com that should take an hour..which means closer to 2 for me as you know I will stop at every single corner and watch for traffic at least 10 times before proceeding..

Wishing you and everyone else a beautiful day tomorrow.

Yes it is hard to take off once it is on, the shock when i hit the scales at Allianz one day and i was 99.9 kg( was so happy it didn't quite hit the 100 ), my weight when i was working was between 89-91, i feel comfortable around 90 C as i am quite tall so can carry a bit of weight, weighed myself today and it was just over 98, have got it about 97.5 a couple of times on the scales at Allianz but want to get back to 90, i have a couple of good pairs of jeans which i cant do up , ditto with some dress shorts, tried my old work trousers on a few days ago and couldn't do them up either lol ( they got binned ) so i have to drop the kilos, have started to change my eating habits a bit also now.

Oh Bernie !!! Don’t bother walking past your old shop I think you would find it most disturbing to see that from the outside it appears to now be one of those massage shops known as a rub and tug

Who cares if she was, it was still great. Reckon it was probably a mix of both, a bit of live and some recorded.
