  • Found this great version of ELO's Showdown on you tube, slightly different and a bit rawer than the version recorded for the album and radio air play.

      • I posted this in the cover version thread but its really not a cover version, more an absolute classic from years ago and the vocals shared with a more recent artist. Callum Scott has a heart aching beautiful voice and combined with Whitney Houston it is just wow, Callum Scott is fast becoming one of my all time favourite artists.

              • This song annoyed me on radio when I used to hear it all the time..then I saw the film clip and fell in love with those Lindsey eyes...

                  • It's been a pretty sad and tough time for the wider Chookpen family. Sending my condolences to all who have experienced recent loss of loved ones (especially Rented Tracksuit at this time). And thank you to those who have sent kind wishes to me as well after my Mums passing.

Music always says it better than just words or conversation. And it's a universal language that soothes the soul. I want to send two songs from my playlist that both hit home, and hope you get something out of them. Although there is some sadness there, there's an uplifting and centreing quality about a great song. Ed wrote this first one as a tribute to his friend Michael Gudinski.

I know we are all eternal beings heading for the same place anyway. Enjoy the ride whenever thats possible, and live your truth.

                      Brian Fallon

And when we both grow old
And there's nothing left to say
                      I want you to know
That I loved you all my days
And when we close our eyes on this lifetime
I'll see you on the other side
Yes, I'll see you on the other side

                          • Going to be a funny couple of weeks, even though my mother passed away almost 3 years ago we are finally putting her ashes at a final resting spot in a couple of weeks on what would have been her 90th Birthday, of course now my father will be going to be next to her, but things wont be ready in time to do both of them together at the same time.

Couldn't say whether my father had a favourite artist but i know Glen Campbell was one of mum,s favourites.

                            Glen Campbell - Rhinestone Cowboy

                            • I know my parents passing were a few years now Aug and Sep 5 and 6 years ago, it still seems like yesterday especially during those two months of the year. To my Chookpen friends who have recently lost family members, take care of yourselves. They may be gone in person but they will always be with you. I know that’s how I feel with mine. As for music, every time I hear John Denver or Neil Diamond it takes me back

                              • I do remember my father liking Nat King Cole and later on his daughter Natalie Cole, i remember him taking my mother to see Natalie.

He also liked Diana Ross but had a hissy fit when my sister bought him tickets to see her in concert here in 1989 as somebody had the gall to make a decision for him , it was his loss though and instead i was given the tickets and saw a really great performance from one of the all time greats.

                                Beautiful song from her.
