Its been a while, not that I follow Rugby that closely. My best memories of Rugby were when the Ella bros lit up the park, great to watch.

We (Easts) used to have closer ties to Rugby and I was always excited when we signed a player. Brass, Fairfax, Walker, Wright, Pappy, Junee, Jorgo, Burke, Melrose to name a few. Did we sign a South African fullback sometime? Can't recall the name.

Du Plessis I think.

And Louis Neumann, another Springbok.

And Brian Smith had a cameo in the early 90s too.

Alan Cardy came across from union with John Brass in 1969, there was also Paul Jelfs who came across from the Eastern Suburbs Rugby Union club in 1978

The only time I remember watching the Wallabies was in the 80s with the Ella brothers and Campese etc. Alan Jones and that guy who replaced him as coach. Bob something? Maybe also into the 90s if it was a big game. But yeah, I can’t remember the last time I actually watched them. At least over 20 years now I would say.
