  • The cocktail thread

Curious, what are your favourite cocktails? I've been shaking / stirring a few lately so figured I'd put it out there.

My current favourite is the Jack Rose... just gotta make sure you use proper grenadine rather than the cr@p they sell as most places, which doesn't even contain pomegranate (sorta reminds me of the good old 'guacamole' without avocado).

I'll also go a wet martini on a daily basis. No magic there really... just good quality liquor and a silky stir. Proper Hemingway fuel as my rants on the 'Pen are clearly of that calibre.

To be fair, the other thread got shut down along with 27 other closed threads I counted when I went looking for it. Poor Red needs a cocktail named after him for that effort. . I vote for a Bronte Berry slinger to be created in his honour.

I have no idea about alcohol so could not advise what it would entail. I'm currently sipping on a berry hydralyte..yep living it up on a Friday night here..

People have received bannings for less than restarting old threads that the mods have shut down

Personally I feel our limoncello guzzling copy boy is deliberately pushing the boundaries

The attached pretty much sums it up.

                Boring being the operative word.

On a positive note - the chookpens (potentially) newest member 'Atlanta1' was banned before it could even get going (yet again). No guesses as to who 'it' is/was.

                Thankyou moderators.

Oh sorry was the last one closed? I assumed I'd passed out from too many homebrews last night and forgotten to post.

Apparently (like my thread about DCE) old mate hijacked it with BS and got the thread (not my original question) closed. I've got him on ignore so am not following the drama. Cocktails are more interesting.

Disappointingly I'm drinking beer tonight as we're having Thai with the in-laws at one of those how do I say... one of those places that's very popular amongst young SE Asians. How do I say? Different tastes. I'd personally pay $5-10 a plate for this stuff, served outta a fast food container. There's no real magic to pad thai (not bagging it, I just don't see a pad thai and a bottle of Tiger beer with a bootleg of Pony & Toxic blaring over the speaker system as fine dining).

On the way back to the car there's a place doing deals on local spirits. Might duck in for a swing and see if I can pickup any ideas for cocktails. Open to suggestions...

Stop posting pointless threads and talking about yourself. And if you haven't the courage to say who 'old mate/s' is, are, don't say anything at all.

You seriously are giving King Salvo a run for his money. And if I were you, that's nothing to be proud of.

Yeah good ol’ old mate. Put up or shut up I say. It’s beyond boring.

FWIW I ended up grabbing a caramel spiced rum from the hipster spirits joint on the way back.

Still not sure what I'll use it for as its creator (who was in store) was like 'I'd use it for a daiquiri' to which I responded 'fair enough... not a white rum ay, but I guess it's sweet ay'. Maybe a spicy, caramel run daiquiri though.

Hope you get well soon! That summarises my past 3 weeks and I still have a bit of a cough. Don't recommend getting RSV, ay.

Thank you but I sip on them when I get home from the office as I get up at five. I walked part of the way home yesterday whilst there was.a strong breeze so always partake of them after being out and about. I prefer the lemonade ones but have the berry and lime/lemon also. I guess you could say that's my cocktail cabinet.

I also attended my work's Diwali celebrations over the morning/lunchtime so it was a big day all round. I slept for 10 hours straight..

Hope you get better also. I had Covid again in the last week of February during that heat wave and I couldn't go and see Tim Freedman around at the pavilion.

I do have a Jack Rose juice I like also and the one I'm having this morning is very similar with berries, watermelon and lemon.

Cheers to a good weekend everyone!
