Discuss anything here......................get the old gang back together.

I had to attend my brother in laws funeral last week at the gold coast.
    He was only 53.
To honour him we all wore Cronulla jerseys, he was a mad fan and ex-sponsor.
A week on the gold coast kept me busy.

Sorry to hear that Eddie, 53 is way to young.

Ok, why especially when there is a shortage of eggs every time you go into a supermarket it seems like every second carton of eggs have cracked or smashed eggs in them ?

Also anytime you ( and i mean myself because it happened again today ) put a clean pair of jeans on and go out for lunch or dinner you end up spilling something oily or fatty on them straight away ?

              Thankyou everyone for your condolences.
He was indeed still young , but suffered from MS, he was very brave for a Cronulla supporter.

When I lived in the country I had chickens. The eggs were plentiful and tasted way better than the supermarket variety.

Let’s not be too hard on our Jaxxxx The idea of long term sobriety would have been rather foreign to him

The eggs straight off the farm are so much better than the supermarket ones, i try not to buy them from the supermarket and get them from some of the local farmer markets, i go to Orange Grove markets a bit near Leichhardt Oval and will get eggs from a certain vendor there but can't always get there every week so other times i have to get the supermarket ones.
There is a sleepy little village on the mid north coast which has a a weekly farmers market at Eungai , i got eggs there last November, they were all shapes a sizes in the dozen i bought and all tasted a bit different but they were so full of flavour, also picked up some duck eggs there which were just yummmm.

Hi Horrie. Could you be more specific in how eggs come in different shapes Please excuse my ignorance always thought eggs came in an oval shape

Although thinking back on it when my Daughter and I had two chickens their eggs would sometimes come out in a circular shape

Such a shame those chickens were kidnapped one night and the hysterics from my Daughter who was 8 when they were kidnapped If losing my egg supply wasn’t enough were almost heartbreaking oh the tears flowed and the wailing was deafening

It depends on what breed of chickens they come from, some were closer to round and others were more pronounced oval shape, i did mean to say in different shapes and sizes though in that post but even with the supermarket eggs i will get some that are more circular as you described and others more oval.
A couple i got in the dozen from the Eungai markets were smaller and blue and the seller explained what different breeds of chooks the eggs came from as it was a very mixed bunch of eggs in shapes and sizes.

Chickens straight from the farm are definitely way more flavourful and bright in colour. Having grown up in a small country town we were often given fresh eggs from friends of my parents. Also a few years back our former neighbours here in Canberra had their own Chookpen in the backyard. When they went away they would ask us and our kids to look after the chooks and collect the eggs which they said we could use. They were so good and the yolks a much more noticeable yellow colour. And yes as Horrie said, the colour and shape of the shell varies with the breed of chook.
