Last night seeing a lot of foods are off the menu for a couple of days , had Thai, chicken and prawn dim sims, prawn wrapped in betel leaves which was so delicate, stuffed chicken wings and a Penang lamb shank curry, it was all very good.
I grew up with boring white bread. It’s all Mum would buy. The only time I eat it now is with a basic sausage sandwich. It’s so boring and bland.

Im making chicken meatballs tonight with a tomato and cheese sauce.

I remember a time where basically white bread was the only option. It is good for the old sausage sanga with tomato sauce at a fete or Bunnings.

Find it interesting as i would have never even considered white bait for sandwiches, just like it in fritter form or as the Italian called it Nannata. Just a shame the New Zealand white bait is rare as hens teeth now, when i was living down in East Sydney had a Kiwi neighbour who would get whitebait sent over from NZ and invite me over when she cooked it up, absolutely yummy. Unfortunately most of stuff in the markets here is the Chinese product, i often order Nannata at the Maltese Cafe in Newtown, i suspect it is the Chinese product but it's still nice.

Speaking of sandwich's, love a good prawn sandwich or roll and have been craving one for a while now coming into summer, just a bit of lemon juice and Marie rose style sauce, maybe a bit of lettuce but that is optional.[/QUOTE]

        Stop it!

The nearest prawn is 40 minutes away unless I go prawning which isn't ideal atm according to the moon.

We catch heaps of small school prawns in our local lake. I like to dust em in 00 flour and deep fry them head and all. So yum and crunchy as fark! Awesome on a fresh sourdough roll with aioli and a squeeze of lemon.

        Don't forget the rock salt

You should try them MR, they are the smaller school prawns and are delicious done that way,

There is another small fish here in Australia marketed as whitebait, different to what they call whitebait in NZ and done the same way as the school prawns and eaten whole, they are so nice and crispy

Many a great night at Stekki back in the day. Live Bouzouki ignites my inner being. I love it!

Visited a mate who lives at Sans Souci and we decided to go Sqidding. Plan was to hit up Dolls Point then head over to Wally's Wharf in the Hacking if we struck out. Whilst squidding, I spotted a large bait ball moving along like a giant clump of weed. We realised that they were Whitebait so we raced home grabbed the net and filled the large white bucket to the brim with Whitebait. We froze most of them for bait and had a nice cook up the following day.

I do remember hearing about these. Probably Masterchef lol. They do look really good all crisped up and fried but there’s something about eating the heads that puts me off. I know I’m being silly.

The school prawns actually look ugly but are delicious but the whitebait just look visually good and are delicious.
