NFL is based on the game of English Rugby Union - Baseball based on the game of English Rounders

We do play a lot of sports invented from overseas particularly England/UK

You wouldn't say because we play English/UK sports such as Rugby Union/ Rugby League/Football / Cricket for Instance that we are token state/county of the UK.
