Good on you mate. You may be surprised how your health improves after leaving the rat race. We've spoke about this before I know, and I exited stage left in August. My last gig was a Parole Officer and I actually enjoyed it compared to others I've had. But once I reached 60 the urge to say goodbye to hierarchy and bad bosses was too strong. And we all want that combination of health, time and $$ to enjoy a slice of life. And being a gambler and having no kittens to worry about, it was a no brainer. You never know what's around the corner.Originally posted by horrie hastings View Post
Unofficially yes but officially no. i am still on the books but its only a matter time before i put in my notice but while i have this on going health problem which i want to sought out before i put in my official notice, still have plenty of sick leave and it is all legitimate leave.

Good for you too Jack. We’re pretty much retirees too now, with the other half retiring late June. We certainly have more time on our hands now and life is more relaxing with more time to do fun things like travelling. Only problem, for me anyway, is the increase in medical appointments which seems to come as you get older.Originally posted by Jacks Fur Coat View Post

Also i wasn't planning for my DVT to flair up again , i had 6 weeks off on carers leave while the better half had the hip replacement and then rehab but just as that 6 weeks were up my leg became uncomfortable and swollen and had to have a ultrasound which showed the DVT had gotten larger again and was blocking the flow of my blood. Was not impressed with my previous vascular specialist who more or less said go away and it will all be right but i am happier with the specialist i am seeing now who wants to get down the cause of why it is happening, i see her again in a couple of days.Originally posted by mightyrooster View Post

. Health is the key really, and mobility as we get older. And thats a combo of lifestyle, genetics and luck. I better not get into the spiritual aspect which suggests we "choose" our lives anyway, it's a bit deep for a thread entitled "the dribble thread".

Yep I remember you telling me about your old specialist who had a very carefree attitude. I’m glad you’re happy with your new one and hope things are improving with the leg. Goes to show women make better doctors hehe.Originally posted by horrie hastings View Post

Yeah why are we having such meaningful conversations in the dribble thread anyway? Who started this nonsense of a proper chat about life, health and retirement and derailing the thread?Originally posted by Jacks Fur Coat View Post

Why do people have to have LOUD phone conversations on the bus ? Was on the bus coming home from Darlinghurst to Newtown when this dudes phone rung, i was sitting behind in the last row as the bus was packed but by a couple of stops a few people had gotten out so i changed seats, so glad i did as the call just went on and on and on and it was loud, i know it was loud as i had my earphones on and when you could hear his dribble over Foreigner's As Cold As Ice, the conversation or yelling went on about an album he made but people want digital downloads of it not hard copies, also IT and AI, this call went from Taylor Square till the stop just before Newtown Station, people were looking around trying to work out was happening, one woman told him to shut up more than once, the postie guy sitting near just smiled at me and we both shrugged our shoulders and smiled and new people getting on the bus were trying to work out what was going on, the looks on the faces ranged from WTF to disgust or rolling of eyes.

It's annoying all right. Happened in the UK too. First day there, caught a bus from our hotel at Heathrow to Windsor for the afternoon. There were a few loud phone conversations during the trip. I was jet lagged and trying to soak in the surroundings. The only good thing was I enjoyed hearing the pommy accent and all their unique saying lol. But back at home, it's very annoying.Originally posted by horrie hastings View PostWhy do people have to have LOUD phone conversations on the bus ? No odds from me But I was thinking myself when I saw this thread rehashed How long will this last. But then I thought to myself as long as we all remain civil in our dribble, that this thread will remain openOriginally posted by rented tracksuit View Post
