  • Pearl Jam Tour

After ten long years, the rockers are back! Farian is a massive Pearl Jam fan and managed to secure tickets in the front rows for their November Sydney show.

    Any other Chookpeners going?

With Eddie living in Bondi for a short stint many years ago and the boys having deep admiration for the Eastern Suburbs, I think we need to get Uncle Nick to contact their publicists and organise some neat marketing to stick up Crowe.

Alive, Black, Even Flow…all great songs. I could never understand why they were lumped in with the grunge bands as I always think of them as just good old alternative rock.

        How was Taylor, bro?

        ---

True story. I was teaching swimming the other day and the following happened.

Girl 1: 'WOOOHOOOOO!!! I went up a level today and you didn't... sucked in!!!'

Girl 2: 'All good... I'm going to Taylor Swift tonight so I'm not really bothered'

        Girl 1: [Stunned face]

Jizzy: 'OOOOKAAAAAAY THANKS EVERYBODY... GREAT EFFORT TODAY AND I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A LOVELY WEEKEND!!! HIGH 5 GIRL 1 AND GIRL 2, SOUNDS LIKE YOU'RE BOTH WINNERS TODAY!!!'

It was like Punk - I don't think many bands liked the term - I think it was Caroline Coon who gave this music that name when writing for the Melody Maker - Then you had New Wave and New Romantics

Indeed...I must admit I'm a contributor to the 'Go Woke, go broke" ethos as I haven’t touched said cheese since its name change. Not that I ever bought it much, it really has its own distinctive flavour. I used to like Chicos too, those little chocolate jelly bubs. They are called something else now too I think.

Anyway I'm not helping the Pearl Jamness of this thread, so I'll depart and leave it to the experts.

You know me Jack when it comes to racism I’m a wokey / soft leftard (as Rocky likes to define), but I thought the Coon / Cheer cheese case was a bit more complex. Yes it’s a highly offensive slur but it also happens to be the founder’s actual name and the packaging had no other racist overtones. I don’t eat it either as I prefer other brands such as Bega or Aldi or even Woollies own label.

I didn’t know that about the author who coined the term Punk. And yes there are some strange genres and sub genres of music out there. You’ve also got Post Punk which I myself prefer to Punk. I know you’re a big Punk fan.
