  • Robbo - "We're not afraid to leave them out there to learn some footy".

One of Robbo's worst pressers IMO... flooded with mixed message.

"Disappointment comes in many flavours"... and "if we improve each week we will (win)".

Anyone honestly say that this recent loss was for reasons other than the 4 losses that proceeded it? Robbo is banging on about effort in defence and seems to be heartened by some combinations of our 1, 6 and 7 at various stages of the game. Then is drawn back to individual lapses, someone on here mentioned a 9 min period which was costly.

Guerra is the real deal... the original headless chook and Fergo's defence looks like it belongs in Carry on Roosters. Great to see SoH kicking goals in a positive.

I see nothing that's changed in 5 rounds. Still no communication in the side. Still no fallback plays in attack. Same rabble defensively. Still a very dumb football side with the only brains contained in the heads of the 1, 6 and 7 with not much footy going on around them.

It's all well and good to have this team pick up experience playing without key personnel but where is the footy coaching Robbo?

If he is not afraid, why not persist with niko at 5/8?

Because it exposes the lack of football nous this team has even more.

It will be good when the team starts winning just so that we can shut the impatient whingers up.

I thought Guerra was good yesterday. With Fergo, I'm wondering whether Pearce is the brains behind the defence on that side of the field. Hopefully when we get him back the right edge will be Guerra, Pearce and Fergo and the communication might improve. Their spacing was terrible at times yesterday and it looked like Fergo was making defensive decisions without too much thought or communication with the guys inside and out.

Like the posters say: "We Play for Premierships".

Just not this year... and we should accept that.

And every team we face for the rest of the season, isn't that right BAW

I think thats the point Robbo was trying to make when he said some teams are there fighting each year to make the top 8. Some teams don't have the patience to try and build a premiership team, they want regular success and don't want to invest time in young players that may come to fruition in a couple of years time

LOL amen... s*x losing, but s*x even more hearing all the b*tchin'!!!!

We're all hurting my brethren!!!! FWIW I thought Robbo did a great post-match interview. He was calm, honest and realistic. If he spoke like all the whingers on here he woulda been like:

'Eff the NRL, it's a conspiracy!!! SKD shouldn't have been penalised for that play the ball because #17 from the Warriors kicked it, we shoulda been given a penalty, but noooo... that f*g Ceccin hates us so rigged it.

Next week I'm gonna put everybody on the chopping board because we are shyte. Guerra, Fergo, Mitchell, Nikorima... heck, everybody besides SST, Maubs and SKD... goooone!!!

What we need is a star 5/8. By mid-season I expect us to have signed JT... because that's what we need and none of our halves are good enough. We shouldn't have sacked Maloney... how stoopid that was!!! Oh jesus and letting RTS + Jenko go... the club has gone to $hyte fans!!! Don't bother turning up this season!!

Oh and I'm handing in my resignation. 5 losses in a row is not good enough and it's 100% my fault. Rip Taylor will be taking over as caretaker coach for the rest of the season, and I'll... I dunno... cult suicide with all the sacked players or something because we are all worthless pieces of shyte'.

Robbo's not a frigging 2 y/o!!! As he said, we're getting better each week, our stars come back in about a month, and the one positive is that a bunch of inexperienced players have now had a go at NRL. Losing s*x... I've played for teams that have lost ALL of their games in 6-10 game seasons. I was an elite athlete trying to pull off miracles for the teams so it was frustrating... but I never disrespected or hated on my team-mates. There was 1 other guy (elite 400m sprinter who later competed in the Commonwealth Games - fast but no team skills) who blamed everybody else and always chucked a tanty when we were down. NOBODY liked him and his input was not necessary. In one game Kurtley Beale scored 6 tries against us... he kept chucking a spaz, putting us all down and blaming the refs. At half-time I asked the ref to hook him for being a bad sport... despite the obvious speed and physicality he offered, we did much better in the 2nd half without the guy. Blasting the troops can work once or twice... but if you keep doing it then all you do is take away confidence/morale. IMO Robbo's post-match speeches (aside from last week where he said 'Aubbo scored, the refs got it wrong' then walked out after 2 minutes) are awesome IMO... calm, level-headed and intelligent. I don't want an Angry Ant or a Ricky Stuart who blasts everybody, says a lot of hot-headed BS and then storms out, collecting the $40,000 fine at the door. As a fan I like Robbo's insight as well - I think he says it how it is, without too much emotion, and looks ahead rather than behind.

I notice they've stopped whinging about the goal kicking this week and the fact Robbo was a disgrace not having a goal kicker in place to replace Maloney. Even though Hastings was always Robbo's planned replacement but was, through no fault of Robbo's or Jasckson's, carrying an injury.

Nikorima is doing too much tackling. Skd made 1 tackle. Nikorima 15. Nikorima needs to be protected more in defence so that we can capitalise on his speed. He's not there was a defensive player. Agree Guerra has his best game this year by a mile. His sin binning would have ruined it though.

People forget that when Maloney was here, our backup in 2014 and 2015 was Boyd Cordner. We were just lucky Maloney only missed one game.

I suspect he's been directed to tackle because he's fast and can rush the opposition halves while they are making decisions. He did this very effectively against Shaun Johnson IMO...

But yeah... odd getting the smallest guy in your team to do more tackling than a 190cm+ centre who is made of bricks.

Robbo stated a few years ago that he wanted to make the roosters a team that was respected, a team that was always in the finals. He specifically used manly and Melbourne as examples of the type of success he wanted to instill in the roosters. He wanted to try and change the up and down swings and make it a smoother more consistent year on year footy club. So I guess if we go on to have a shit year, by his own objectives he will have failed in that regard.

Niko really needs a spell in NYC or NSW Cup. He is unbelievably ineffective and his confidence seems like it's hit an all time low.

Time to try that other chap Connor Watson. Seemed like he was 18th man on sunday.
