I suppose that will match nicely with Mitchell who will need to be carving up like Inglis did or else he'll be labelled a dud.

Any other young kids in the side we want to heap a shit tonne of unnecessary pressure on? Perhaps Hastings should be made to convert all our water to free beer at half time every game?

    It'll happen mate.

We will be on perhaps 3 wins for the season come Round 8 in my opinion and Ray Stehr & his band of instant gratificators will slam them. I predict the following sentiments: 'He is not first grade material, throw the checkbook at Cronk', 'Robbo has to go', 'POS must be sacked'

Nippy the baby face is stirring the pot

Just one trial match & all this fuss!!

win or lose this is likely a fun season ahead as there's no pressure

Talk about being glad that certain people don't have a say in selections..

Obviously he would go better if he started binge drinking because we know consuming large quantities of alcohol has no affect on a players recovery and rehabilitation from injury and performances on the field.

So factoring in both sides of the ball he still fell short of Freddy in his miracle one-off season.
Fittler was amazing in defence no doubt. And we all worried about Carney in defence when we came to the club. But they worked on it and he was fine.

Should have won us a comp in 2010. That pass from him to put Leilua over in corner late in first half to make it 14-6 in GF was a beauty - but wasn't allowed. Touch judge didn't like it.
I remember posting in 2010 the he would end up being the best rooster of all time.

Man, I was thinking something similar at the time.
Now he joins the Jeff Mastermann one season wonder club.

I believe the Club should take some responsibility for that since they endorsed the harbour cruise on Australia Day ...
For professional football players, there must be an alternative to boozy bonding sessions???

The club didn't force him to get blotto and kick on till 4am. The kid has been dealt with harshly already but I wouldn't be diminishing his personal responsibility. He's a repeat, albeit minor, offender on the grog.

                        Sorry but I disagree..
He is an adult and the Club captain,as well as a repeat offender..
                        Nobody to blame but himself!

Jeff Masterman must be the least remembered Easts player of the modern era to represent Australia.

No way mate, what a load of crap.

I'm fed up with this culture we now have as a country of looking for someone to blame.

As a fully grown adult, the buck stops with Mitchell, just as Meehan, Carney, Monaghan and co are responsible for their misdemeanors. One of the great things about Robbo is that this is core part of his belief system and it is very refreshing.

Every individual in society is responsible for their own actions, end of.

Agree mate but in regards to Pearce will Robbo stick firm and true with his beliefs or will he be compromised??

You see, for mine, Pearce has now done his dash. What ounce of respect I had remaining before the recent incident has evaporated. If he gets another opportunity to wear our proud colours I will find it particularly difficult watching him strut around.

                              • Just to clarify - I am in no way defending Pearce. His behaviour as Club Captain was unacceptable and he will suffer the consequences.
However, my argument is that if we want to maximise performance and finely tune these bodies, surely binge drinking is detrimental to this, along with smoking and drug taking?
These players rely on their bodies for their employment, so every advantage should be considered?
