Phil "Buzz" Rothfield update....its a done deal likely announcement within 48 hours.

Speaking with "Loz" Daley and "Pup" Clarke they all took the tack that the Cheese was disrespectful to the Storm in his interview, likening it to Kikau in the Dogs jersey pic. We will prob see more of this from the media.

Said it was a super impressive sell to the Cheese from Easts incl a preview of the new stadium with players lockers and names on them....Cheese had his own there. Sneaky.

Nick phoned Buzz and blasted him back in July when he leaked our courting of Smith. Concerned other players negotiating contracts Manu, Crichton etc. may not have reacted favourably.

    Welcome Brandon.

One of the of the few extra comments was:
        - Robbo told him he wanted him to be an enforcer for the side. Someone who brought everyone together well and fired up the side (he referenced Luke O'Donnell 2013)
        - Radley was mentioned a few times from the host and Brandon himself. They were both excited about the idea of the two playing side by side and demolishing opponents in defence
        - Brandon seemed to imply he loved Radleys personality. I could see them getting along like a house on fire (both on and off the field)
        - Brandon wants to be a leader. Says he speaks his mind, is energetic and talks a lot. Robbo himself thought this was really important
Interesting, because they both seem to have a penchant for the same recreational substances!

I would be a bit concerned about having both in the same side - not because of football ability but because dumb sh*t feeds off dumb sh*it when 2 like personalties are involved.

I haven't listened to the full interview yet but it wouldn't surprise me if BS was talking BS. He's a prankster and throwing shade is one of the things he does best so it wouldn't surprise me if it was another of his pranks. No doubt he has football smarts and ability and the club must think we need him but I'm not sure that the eastern suburbs of Sydney's fishbowl will encourage his best behaviour off field.

If we get him, I hope I'm wrong.

That was an odd interview all things considered.

You'd have to think Bellamy would be ropable.

I don't think it was intentional - to agitate for an immediate release - but still, it was a bit odd.

He said he values Wayne (plus Robbo & Bellamy) and that Wayne gave some powerful 'I want 100 men who will die for each other rather than 1000 who won't' speech.

Sounds more like a lame@rse phone chucker quote TBH [still hasn't gotten over his single iconic movie from the early 90's]. Says something about the way we do business. Bouris and Nick are hard working wogs who love the to-and-fro of business + developing human beings. It's not about the money to them, it's about self-improvement and helping other likeminded people to do the same with their lives (no matter what their trade). Footy's just a natural expansion of that.

Ah OK, maybe I watched an edit because I don't remember that bit. He only talked about the challenge of being a start up, and Redcliffe's resources.

I'm trying to contain my excitement.

                      He'd be a transcendent signing.

Very few players impact a game as much as Brandon. As far as forwards go, maybe none.

We truly are blessed to support this club.

Melbourne star Brandon Smith has confirmed his move to the Sydney Roosters in 2023.

News Corp understands that Smith began informing other clubs of his plans on Monday morning, having also attracted interest from North Queensland, Gold Coast and the Dolphins.

Push for the early release Nick, he clearly wants out of the Storm so let's get it done.

From my reading of Matty Johns I believe he admires both the Roosters & the Storm, I think he really likes how Melbourne develop players under Bellamy how they continue to be the bench mark but I also think when Matty puts away his jovial side he has a massive admiration for Nick Politis, he might joke about sombrero's & brown paper bags but he also knows that Nick, Robbo & the whole Roosters organisation are a PREMIUM club in the NRL. Pound for pound the Chooks are like Manchester United or the Dallas Cowboys they are heavy weights of their comps.
It's a point I raise with mates when they go on about sombreros at the roosters and I ask why do the best sportsman always want to go to the biggest clubs and it's not just about money. It's because they are incredibly competitive people that want to win. Play with the best , get coached by the best and you're a much bigger chance of improving and winning
Our club has an aura about it now in terms of care and professionalism amongst the players in the comp and it stems from the top down with Nick and Robbo.
This signing means we're back and we'll win a comp with this spine.

if luck and injuries go our way in 2022, we could win the comp.

smith in 2023 could mean another back to back...

Can we afford him for next year?
You would think we would have to give someone to the Storm for that to happen.
