  • Injury Update

The Sydney Roosters squad has been assessed by Club medical staff following Friday's Round 9 match against the Parramatta Eels.

Drew Hutchison has sustained fractured ribs and a punctured lung. Hutchison is currently recovering in hospital and is in a stable condition.

Victor Radley was taken from the field in the first half of the match for a Head Injury Assessment (HIA) and was unable to return to the field. He has commenced the NRL's HIA protocol.

Sam Walker has been cleared of a serious ankle injury and will be available for team selection next week.

Lachlan Lam has made a successful return from his MCL rehabilitation and will be available for team selection next week.

There were no other injury concerns for the remaining players that featured in the match.

    Great news on Sammy Walker.

I'm sure he's looking forward to playing in Brisbane next week in front of Family and Friends.

Will be interesting to see if Walker plays. The kid looks a bit busted up, and needs a week off

Excellent news on Sam. I really feel for Hutch, he was giving it his very best effort and doing a good job in the circumstances. The fact it was a low act and a serious injury makes it harder to take. All
yhe best to him in his recovery.

Really feel for Hutch, his manager has come out and said how the illegal tackle has ruined a perfect opportunity for Hutch to play some first grade football and make a case for another contract.
This is a real issue that could effect Hutch financially. He was finally living the dream playing 1st grade and doing pretty well too.

I think Robbo sees Hutch's solid contribution to the side. Get well soon!

Which highlights what I consider to be the injustice in the penalties handed out for foul play when a player suffers a long term injury. IMO the player should be suspended for the time the injured player takes to return plus the standard penalty for the offence.

Earlier in the year, Kefusi was back playing well before Matterson and in this case Brown will be back well before Hutch. These aren't the only ones, just the ones that stand out to me ATM.

Seems a totally unfair system when the player charged with the offence can return to play before the player suffering from the indiscretion.

What about Fletcher Baker? Injured in captains run. Anyone know what the story is?

Regardless of the penalty Hutch is still rooted.

Sure he is but it must hurt even more when the grub who rubs you out gets back on the field before you.

If this is true, its better news than expected, aside from Hutchs injury. Sometimes the injury update seems rosier than it is.

If we can ever get this combo on the park together:
                        1 Teddy
                        6 Lam
                        7 Walker
                        13 Radley
                        9 Verrils
we can really exploit this 2021 version of the game. Back that up with the work ethic and toughness of our rowers and three quarters, we can stretch any team.

The Rooster hasn't had his final crow just yet.

Rads and Verrilis are the key in my opinion , without them doesn't matter who the 1/2 are . Would love to see how Lam goes with Victor on the field for an extended period of games.

With you on this one mate, this has popped into my mind a couple of times this year.
