  • 21-MAN SQUAD v SOUTHS

Well, here we go, the game we've been waiting for. Let's hope the boys have a mind to right the wrongs of last year and are ready to rumble this Friday night. I couldn't stand losing to the b@stards again.

Here's the lineup, and it's pretty much what I expected:

    ROOSTERS
    1. Tedesco
    2. Tupuo
    3. Morris J
    4. Manu
    5. Morris B
    6. Lam
    7. Keary
    8. Collins
    9. Lussick
    10. SST
    11. Chrichton
    12. Tupouniua
    13. Liu

    INTERCHANGE:
    14. Radley
    15. JWH
    16. Butcher
    17. Suluka-Fifita

    RESERVES:
    18. Hutch
    19. Ikuvalu
    20. Walker
    21. Baker

My best guess is that Rads will come on for Liu, and if Lussick needs a break Rads will cover hooker while Liu returns to lock.

BTW - did SST play lock for a while last week? I noticed that we had three props on the field and no Liu, so I thought Robbo had moved SST to lock to keep him on for as long as possible for his goal kicking. That might have been just me though?

When Rads is fit enough to start again - what a dangerous backrow!

Rads being back is great. The side in general looks very strong, with Cordner, Friend and Verrills still to come back in.

Did Adam Reynolds fail his HIA on the weekend?

If so I can’t imagine he lines up against us. Either way I’m not too fussed I thought Souths went to another level when Benji came on, he created some points and took control of the game for them so maybe better if he does...

Benji is the ONLY Souths player that spooks me...the less we see of him the better.

If that squad stays without movement I hope Sam Walker doesn't get the "honour" of being 18th or 19th man. Want to at least see him play for the Bears.

Barring injury concerns, I would guess Walker and Iku drop out on Thursday.

What is the protocol on players who fail a HIA?
Guys like Cords, Friend, Teddy, Keary have had multiple HIA failures so I understand the protocol on them but if you get a first time failed HIA but you pull up fine the next day & then the next 5 days you are fine who says whether you can play or not?

I think it is only a matter of time before we see Walker in the starting line up. Lam is not up to standard for us to win a comp. Either that or Joey Manu to 6 and Suualli in the centres

Notably Wayne Bennett declared him fit to play against the Roosters 30 minutes after the game had finished last week so not sure how seriously the protocols are always taken by clubs.

Jaxson Paulo was knocked out in Round 1 of the NSW cup and then promoted to the First Grade team last week where he was knocked out after 50 minutes again. The risk of playing again so shortly after the first concussion is so great, you’d think by now the NRL would just step in an have a mandatory rest period (most medical research recommends at minimum 7 days recovery with 14 days being ideal depending on the individual). When club coaches are declaring a player fit to play 30 minutes after a game without even beginning the first step of the NRL’s protocols they’re obviously not being taken that seriously.
