Rothwit is quoting Olsen Filipaina saying Ron Jones gave him $35K in a brown paper bag. Almost forty years ago. What a great scoop.

Too bad there was no salary cap in those days. Maybe the ATO should get in touch with Goulding, Filipaina & the Sorenson brothers & get them to pay the tax on those payments!

I actually cant recall Goulding ever playing for us??? He should return any and all money he received

I remember speaking to Laurie Freier about those days and he claims that Ron Jones bought all those players from Cronulla without his knowledge-including Gavin Miller

If Ron Jones had 35k in cash that hadn't been accounted for it would have ended up in his own pocket-not Filipainas. Speaking of the Big O ill never forget him playing second row in reserve grade at the old Sports Ground- even came out with the electrical tape wrapped around his head. He got replaced at half time with the tackle count of 1. Its actually really hard to only make one tackle when you're playing in the second row! Not long after that game he played 5/8 for NZ and made Wally Lewis look like a park football player. To say he never lived up to his talent would be a understatement

I had barramundi, chips and veg btw.

farmed barra can be a bit muddy, but still good.

There's a new book about Olsen that's just been released, starting to read it now, it's really enjoyable so far.

The name of the website says it all: Today’s Tale. Don’t mind the Yowie though.

                        Usual tripe;

The same business model applies now at the roosters. They have bought every single premiership win with their deep pockets. The NRL won't do anything about it as they don't want to loose the owners who invest heavily in NRL clubs.

                        #####

Verrills, scored the winning try in the 2019 Grand Final, arguably.
How much was he being paid at the time?
                        Origin/Test player? No.

Roosters unloaded the following stars to stay under the salary cap:
                        . SKD
                        . Guerra
                        . Watson
                        . Pearce
. Ferguson [replaced by Brett Morris for 2019
                        . Matterson
                        . Momirovski

                        plus others.

Attracting sponsors is not a crime.

He wasn't a forward, obviously. Why would he want to work his fingers to the bone in reserve grade?
Rated as one of the hardest players to tackle.

Tony Adams has been on a bit of a witch hunt of Nick Politis over the past 6-12 months.

Don't dismiss the inclusion of City Ford.

Plenty at the club have certainly started to notice.

Not sure what the back story is but expect more hit pieces from Tony over the coming months.

He was in reserve grade because of his non involvement in first grade. Besides playing for NZ he never worked up a sweat, let alone fingers to the bone. Maybe it was his full time job as a garbo that left him jaded on game day. Those were the days when garbos would ride on the back of the truck, jump off to lift the old garbage tin cans and empty them in the truck. Taxing work!
