There is a lot of players off contract from November, will be very hard to keep them all. Latrell, Manu, Friend, JWH, SST - tetevano is still not re-signed for next year

There's a chance JWH will stay without pay-rise but a big call to make if other clubs like penrith are offering him a big deal because they are more desperate

Why can’t these clubs who have a great junior base develop their own. I would hate to see him leave because he’s the heart and soul of our team. I personally don’t think he will leave but who knows when a player is getting near the end of his career the money can be very tempting.
Because there are 15 other clubs with player scouts who park themselves in areas with great junior development & pinch them.

Pinch? Or maybe just give them an opportunity they wouldn't have otherwise had. You can only put 13 on the field doesn't matter how many talented juniors may live in your catchment.

Do you think that the roster needs to be refreshed after a GF win then a defence season? Usually happens naturally with the developing players and fringe players value going up during that era, the decision is, do you let the a couple of old heads go earn a good twilight contract or lose a newbie. Who will have the hunger to keep chasing after they have won a comp and defended or lost a defence.

JWH will be 31 yo in January. I can't see us matching a 3-year deal. It will be 2-year max.

I could see us signing RCG who is five years younger than JWH.

I think its a beat up article anyway now that Beetroot faces team are all but gone.

As other have said, why go from such a good wicket to a dump like the Riff? Take a look at Jimmy Maloney, the guy has improved every team he has played for... except for Pemriff.

I love jared as well, but at the end of 2020 it might be the end, unless he wanted just a one year extension.

Penrith have a toxic environment. Its about being a hero out there and not a footy player for your team. With all the money they have thrown around what have they go, great facilities and family unfriendly videos. As someone else mentioned why would an established player go to an environment like that. I think his payday will be in the super league

Yep the environment at Penrith seems ordinary but players don't go to the Superleague anymore for a payday, only when they are no longer wanted in the NRL because the money is no longer there.

still a payday based on the fact its a crap comp requiring less input to succeed while getting paid rather well.

Yeah but the context of 'payday' is to go and get some big money. The big money isn't there anymore. JWH would get more now than he could get in the Superleague and a dumb club like the Panthers would probably offer him $800K plus a season over 3 years. After all they signed Merrin a few years ago for around $800K a year and Tamou is on $700K.

Good point, look at the cowboys and how they’ve failed to rejuvenate their squad and kept their ageing roster, didn’t work out well for them.

For me JJWH is up their with the Rooster Gods... If its a cap thingy or money earner then either retire after winning back to back or give him a last year send off then look after the lad forever.
                              Piss off Penriff.
