  • JWH beats charge free to play the Knights

Roosters enforcer Jared Waerea-Hargreaves will be free to lead the premiers' bid for revenge against Newcastle after successfully overturning a two-game ban at the judiciary.

Waerea-Hargreaves had been facing another two weeks on the sidelines for allegedly leading with the head against Cowboy Josh McGuire on Sunday.

While his initial contact with McGuire sent the Origin forward flying backwards, it was Waerea-Hargreaves' follow-up effort in landing on McGuire which was deemed to have been led by his head that resulted in the charge.

But his successful challenge of the grade one charge which due to carry-over points had the Kiwi prop facing two weeks out will see him free to take on Newcastle, who thumped the Tricolours by 38-12 in their last clash in round 11.

Waerea-Hargreaves copped a two-game suspension in that match as well, when his late hit on Kalyn Ponga sparked a melee late in the contest.

Had Waerea-Hargreaves been rubbed out again for his contact on McGuire, another ban would have made him available for just games in the past two months through injury and suspension.

Sydney Roosters star Jared Waerea-Hargreaves is free to face Newcastle on Saturday after beating a dangerous contact charge.

Waerea-Hargreaves was staring at a two-game ban for his grade-one charge after clashing heads with North Queensland firebrand Josh McGuire on Sunday.

However the three-person NRL judicial panel of Tony Puletua, Bob Lindner and Sean Garlick took just 10 minutes to find Waerea-Hargreaves not guilty at NRL headquarters on Tuesday.

We were definitely due one but out of all the one's we've had this year I would've rated this one the least likely.

Hope this is a wake up call for JWH and he starts focusing on leading the team to another premiership and stop getting caught up in the rubbish,we need him on the field if we are to go back to back!
