    Yep, #metoo
If we go to market, we will pay too much. Promote Lam

    Cronk on a million
    Ash Taylor on a million

    which one is worth it?
    ..it’ll be interesting to see

Keary will be our main half next year that is a given but if he was to get an injury our whole season would crumble and that's such a huge risk. It could be a real 2016 type season when we lost Pearce for the first half of the season and never recovered.

I'm fine with developing Lam/Latrell/insert young up and comers for the long term but we must replace Cronk with an experienced half for 2020. Experienced meaning more than 50 first grade games.

      Obviously we won't be able to afford top end halves but I think options such as;

      - Sam Williams
      - Te Marie Martin
      - Aidan Sezer
      - Ryley Jacks
      - Blake Austin

Should be considered strongly. None are world beaters but all have experience and are first graders in the right environment.

I would also be watching the Ash Taylor situation very closely. If we could pick him up for a discount he would be worth shedding a player to pay the extra coin. His potential is huge, just needs some strong guidance and coaching.
To be fair, I think last night showed how important it is to have 1 experienced half rather than both your halves and your hooker playing out of position (or up a grade).

From the above list, I wouldn't take any over Lam and Verrills. They're all average, mid-career halves (one of whom was a Roosters junior) and they'd add nothing in the long-term.

Jacks is not up to the NRL been on the fringes for years, that doesn’t make him experienced. Sezer and Williams are sensible options while we develop.

Maloney..wow hadn’t thought of that but is not a bad idea at all. I like Lam at 5/8 Keary HB but if Robbo doesn’t see Lam as in his plans then I’m all for Maloney to come back for 2 years until Walker,if we sign him, is ready.

He looks busted and tired, and he would be 34 next year.
            Always liked jimmy though.

I also like the idea of signing Maloney for a couple of years until Walker is ready,if he indeed has signed with us.

James will be 33 next year and with Keary beside him he can take a back seat and lead with his experience while Keary can run the team.

At the Panthers he looks busted as he is the main experienced man in the halves,at the Roosters it will be different.

              Win win for all involved!

He’s 33 in June, and getting injured easier, every year from here on will only get tougher.

                    - Ryley Jacks 26yo 27 First Grade Games

The ONLY thing he has over any of those players is number of games by 5 over Ryley Jacks. I only included Ryley Jacks because he is at that age when most halves generally start to peak, he's player a bucket load of reserve grade and he has come through some really good systems in the Roosters and Storm. Even despite playing less first grade I think it would be a hard argument to say he's less experienced... but make it if you want.
If we were no shot at Maloney, I would love to see Blake Austin get a run. I know we say it a lot but I reckon with the right side around him and the correct guidance, he could shape up nicely for the next 3-4 years. Loved watching him at the Faiders when he was on.

Cameron Smith is 36 this year,Cooper Cronk is 34 this year and both still making a difference to their team, with no major injuries to speak of..

Maloney turns 34 mid next year so I still think he can easily push another 2 years, especially with Keary being the main man!

Without Keary I wouldn’t even consider it,but providing Luke is ok then Maloney is a no brainer in my opinion.

We have Lam signed till end of 2020. Lamb till the end of this year. Let’s see how this play out this year. Let’s see if the club signs Walker. Let’s see what happens with Keary. All these things will determine what the club decides to do in the future. Let’s just concentrate on this year and hope Keary isn’t out long term. It’s not up to the Coach or the Club to decide this issue. It’s up to the experts ie: a specialist neurologist to assess him and determine what he should do. After that happens the club will have a clearer view of what to do.

The mentioned halves are either fringe first graders or come with baggage.

If that is the case we're better off sticking with Brock Lamb or Lachlan Lam who are all in our system and learning our style and building the skills around our structures instead of brining in an outsider where we will have to alter our team style.

Halfback is too important a position.

                              I agree.

Stick with Keary and Lam for 2020. Sign up young Walker and see what happens.

Ive watched a few of the Dogs games this year & I tell you that Jack Cogger is not a bad organising half back.
Im not suggesting that the Roosters replace him for Cronk but I think he has alot of ability & in a good side like the Roosters he could be anything.
