Storm in a Tea Cup, Media beat up at its finest, we can’t blame Freddy or the golden boy halves blah blah blah, this is the usual tripe being dished up to derail our season, he had permission to attend the funeral and have the week off, the kid hasn’t gone awol or walkabout as much as the bullshitters in the media want everyone to believe, he will be back, refreshed better than ever and the media and haters will come along for the ride, I’ll say it again Fark Origin, it is a career destroyer for many young men

I can't understand the following;
- "He's not play like a million dollar player" - Relevance? He's not on a million dollars.
- "He's TPJ" - In what world? Latrell has proven himself the best centre in the comp at 20yrs of age. TPJ is 23 fighting for a starting spot in a bottom 8 side week to week. Ridiculous comparison.
- Comparing him to Jake Friend/JWH - At 21 Jake Friend was off making sandwiches. JWH at 21 was a bit part bench player with control issues. I absolutely love both players and been defenders of theirs for a long time but there's got to be an element of patience when it comes to youngsters.
If you're sick of "his crap" then you must be hard to please. As a Roosters fan I consider myself lucky to have witnessed someone like Latrell wear our colours and do the freakish things only he can do. The moments he has given us far outweigh "the crap" but there are poor performances, undeniably. Like there have been from Friend, JWH, Joey Manu, RTS, Tupou, Liu, Maubs, Cordner, Radley when they are in their early 20s and just like there will be from the next generation of talent we develop.
The alternative to missing those growing pains is to just buy talent in their mid 20's and not develop. That would be actual crap... what Latrell is going through is called development.
Enjoy the journey, the ups and downs. There's been far more ups than downs so far.

Agree with all this but the fact that he is a head case is a concern. Would hate to throw big money at a guy who could go walkabout and is not mentally tough enough or unmotivated. He has already won a comp, represented his state and country. The only motivation for him now is to get better. This may not be enough for him.

I feel for him because like it or not he has become the face of the game. Everything he does is scrutinised, good and bad. He’s still only a young guy trying to cope with all that scrutiny. The rubbish that is printed in one paper is opposite to the rubbish in the next paper. I am glad he’s going back home for a few days for some R&R. It will do him the world of good. The best advice I would give him is don’t read the papers. Be yourself and follow your own path and don’t let all the other crap get to you.
He is lucky to have family who are there for him. Not to mention the Roosters who will also guide him through the mine field that is attached to being an NRL star.
I don’t know why Freddy said that about the Roosters not being happy with Latrell. To me it appeared like Freddy was trying to shift blame, which is not cool. He makes out he is being supportive but comments like that can be damaging.
I hope when Latrell plays next he kills it and just gets back to enjoying his footy.
I would have expected for Brad he would have been able to reference a young rising star out Penrith way who turned up to training on a mini bike acting the goat and was pulled into line by his coach and long term mentor.
I am happy to stand with the young bloke Latrell, and I will trust Trent to mentor and coach him through this period.
On the other side of this process is potentially a career highlighting one of the great modern-day centres. I hope for everyone's sake this is realised.
I think for Latrell, he needs to be clear on which voices have been there for him along the way pre and post his breakout moments.
Just looking forward to seeing him back out on the field in the red, white and blue.

Wowsers a fair few of you need to go for a swim and refresh yourselves. It was said only a few weeks ago latrell lost his uncle. Now he is attending a funeral. During this time he has had a few bad games, but those few bad ones are still better than most left centres. He will be back next week. The Ryan Williamson comment is rediculous. He was never anything. Latrell is lucky he has good people around him.

Sliding door moment - If Latrell had scored at the end and NSW won,

He had 2 touches of the ball in space, once he slipped over, the other time he nearly scored the match winning try. Hopeless, hopeless service from the halves. Apart from the piece of brilliance by Teddy that led to only 1st half try, Walker and Cleary provided nothing threatening in attack. Cook ran the ball very well, but both he and Cleary had truly abysmal short kicking games near the tryline. Not once did their kicks look like earning a drop out, let alone a try. But yeah, that was all Latrell's fault.
A few weeks ago he was playing out of his skin - but on that occasion all the media wanted to talk about was him being miserable playing at the roosters instead of where he really should be at Souffs. They had spoken to his 4th cousin who confirmed this to be fact.
The other night he played inside clueless halves who were nowhere up to the task (that's the team YOU picked Freddy - out coached by Kevvie - dear oh dear) and he is being blamed for everything.
Again the media want to get inside his head and screw with him, as the last thing they want to see is him playing well enough to help us go back to back.

I disagree.
Latrell is a match-winner.
He's tall, solid and fast.
He has the X factor.
He's young, and will be an even better player in the future.
He's a point scorer...good goalkicker.
If I were running the show at the Roosters I would happily sign him for Cronk's money.
It would be my job to make the reasons right for him to stay.Last edited by Thirteen; 06-07-2019, 09:30 AM.

The team's the most important thing, but it's made up of players who are different and - within reason - I don't have a problem with players being treated somewhat differently.
