  • Manu to miss a week - Judiciary - No!

    https://www.nrl.com/news/2019/04/13/...ayers-charged/

Manly Sea Sea Eagles prop Addin Fonua-Blake faces a two match-ban for his late hit on Knights halfback and kicker Mitchell Pearce.

The Tonga international was among three players charges over Saturday night's round five action.

Fonua-Blake was handed a grade one careless high-tackle charge on Pearce in Manly's 26-18 win, but will spend two weeks on the sidelines since he has carry over points from an earlier offences.

Roosters centre Joey Manu was charged with dangerous contact for his alleged crusher tackle on Sharks winger Sione Katoa in the 30-16 win at PointsBet Stadium and faces a week out.

The guy backs into the tackle and sits down and his neck is caught on the shoulder... it's accidental. I hope they fight this one cause this crusher is a tactic Sharks do to get penalties like Dugan and Sorenson did to us last year.

Surely not...was no pressure applied like your conventional dangerous crusher.

Fake news, absolutely no way he will be suspended for that, even the commentators said it was nothing but accidental, the ball runner got himself in a bad position, he must have got a tip from Duggan who feigns injury to get penalties regularly.

Was a bullshit penalty, no way it was even a charge.

            You want precedent....

Someone explain to me how the fark does Josh Maguire get away with a $3350 contrary conduct fine for what was a blatant eye gouge on Munster?? Now Manu could sit out a week for that? Ridiculous

You never know cause apparently you can be found guilty of eye gouging these days and only cop a fine. Steve Linnane must be pissed.

Great example. Nrl has never had consistency in its on-the-run management of match.

didnt they remove precedent as a defence because of this?

Hard to see anything coming from that one. For starters there was no intention it was an accident and a minor one at that. I am surprised it went any further.

What a load of garbage. So Joey gets one week for that and Maguire cops a fine for eye gouging. Seriously?
