You dropped balls because you were monstered by good defence, you had less ball than Souths because Souths played a better strategic game and had Reynolds getting repeat sets, Souths tries were not in the least lucky, they were the result of an outstanding kicking game from Cook and Reynolds, your forwards didn't step up because they got bullied by Sam Burgess all night, hence why your coach was scared to put Crichton on until Sam went off.
You were beaten by a clearly better side.
Show some pride and dignity, cop the loss on the chin and stop trying to make really lame excuses.
What I've missed most is your deep knowledge of the game. As this post of yours illustrates:
I wrote in another thread that Keary will go down as one of the Roosters biggest ever recruitment blunders, and he will.
For those comparing Maloney and Keary, please, just stop it. Maloney is streets ahead of Keary in every area.
Keary has a number of issues, they are:
1) Kicking game. He doesn't have one which is a major problem for a half. He can't get repeat seats and his tactical kicking is weak.
2) Defence. Keary is very small and gets pushed off easily. He does have guts and heart and will try hard, but he's a flyweight.
3) Dummy pass. He constantly throws the most telegraphed dummy in the NRL, no one has fallen for it, ever, and he gets smashed every time. This tends to stifle the attack.
4) Attitude. Massive ego and very disruptive to the team. Him and Carter were both marked as main instigators with the internal troubles at Souths and were moved on for these reasons. Sadly for the Roosters looks like you're getting both.
5) Expensive. At the start of this year was shopping himself around at 850K, such is his opinion of himself. When clubs laughed at him his price dropped to 650k, so I would guess he has not been a cheap purchase.
Strengths: Can break the line and is not a bad attacking player, on his day, though his "days" are very inconsistent. Can fill in at hooker and does a pretty good job from dummy half.
I have a lot of respect for TR as a coach, but he's going to need some good luck to get something worth the money out of Keary considering he has a lot of weak areas, and controlling his ego.
Good luck.
