  • Kurt Baptiste

May be reading into things here, but it has been reported we are chasing a hooker after losing Garvey......

    __________________________________________________ ________________________________________________

Kurt Baptiste could be set to make a shock return to the NRL.

The 26-year-old left Canberra due to salary cap pressure for a one-year-deal with Leigh but there’s an Australian side keen to bring him back before his career abroad can get underway.

The sticking point will be around the dollars.

Why do we even need another hooker? We've got Friend and Radley and worst case Aubo or a NYC player as a fill-in. Spend the cash on a front rower...

Surely not. Radley was outstanding filling in last year

Makes us sound like pimps. But we could be caught short.

Our experiences so far - Piggy Riddell, Le Strange, McIlwrick and poor old Ian henderson don't engender a lot of enthusiasm for our choice of replacement hookers. If Baptiste.let's hope he breaks the drought. heard he shines under lights.

Definitely not us. Radley is already twice the player Baptiste is.

We are also looking at Paul Aiton and Carl Ablott for this year too.

Don't forget Anthony Watts and John Doyle. Ahhh memories.

We've actually been very lucky to have had Craig Wing - who imo is somewhat underrated and is one of the greatest Roosters I've seen - and also Jake Friend. Not to mention Bonetti before them.

Three quality hookers for the best part of the last 20 years with some hilarious short term failures in between.

Worth mentioning they would both be on minimum wage and you'd have to assume the plan would ideally be for neither to play first grade. Ablett is old and tough though so he could be good to have around for the younger guys. I'd still rather a good prop though

                              Handy player Baptiste.
I was trainer for one of his Queensland teams in juniors and I've always kept an eye on his career....
