Don't know why Gus gets a bad wrap here. He still has connections and he can't be seen as waving the RWB flag every time he makes a comment, otherwise you get other fans blaming him for favouring us all the time. I think he tries hard to be impartial and so sometimes, you may not like what you hear.

Last week in response to the Crawley files, I posted the following comment.
It seemed to be quite a popular comment in receiving the most likes (26)
So I am glad Gus had read them and spoke up on the Roosters defence.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Didn't see Roosters snap up Merrin/ DCE/ Foran in the last months bidding wars- this is where the salary cap goes. Roosters don't pay overs for these type of players.

Gould is now doing it at Penrith, Develop the youngsters and look for smart buys (Like Jamie Soward)

Looking at the Roosters top squad most of these players made there debuts at the Roosters. No names that the Roosters went into a bidding war for.

    1. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck - First Grade Debut Roosters
    2. Daniel Tupou - First Grade Debut Roosters
    3. Michael Jennings - Penrith discard (Contract partially paid by former club)
    4. Blake Ferguson - NRL discard
    5. Shaun Kenny-Dowall - First Grade Debut Roosters
    6. James Maloney - ex Storm/Warriors
    7. Mitchell Pearce - First Grade Debut Roosters
    8. Jared Waerea-Hargreaves - 2009 Manly First Grade debut - joined Roosters year after
    9. Jake Friend - First Grade Debut Roosters
    10. Sam Moa - Unheard of from Super League
    11. Boyd Cordner - First Grade Debut Roosters
    12. Aidan Guerra - First Grade Debut Roosters
    13. Isaac Liu - First Grade Debut Roosters

    14. Mitchell Aubusson - First Grade Debut Roosters
    15. Dylan Napa - First Grade Debut Roosters
    16. Kane Evans - First Grade Debut Roosters
    17. Sio Siua Taukeiaho - First Grade Debut Roosters

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note:Note: This is not my first post and I have been a member here for sometime now, however with the change to the forum I had to re-register (i think the quotation marks around my user name confused the computer in listing me alphabetically.) So now I have to start from scratch again.

Yes there are still many of Murdoch's Muppets in the News limited crowd who have it in for Nick and Phil and other ARL people at the time of Sewer League
who didn't just roll over to Murdoch and fortunately for us stood by their clubs.

Sure he can be a belter as a commentator but the reality is that's a commentators job, to entertain.

Just last week he wrote a good positive article on us.

Yep, agreed. Have read plenty of good things from Gus in the paper regarding the success of our club and team. He doesn't seem to like Robbo being on the rules committee, however, which is fair enough. And isn't a fan of wrestling (who is?). Channel 9 commentary brings out the worst in him but apart from that, he isn't bad to us

He might be writing nice things about us but we've still got to listen to him carry on about Souths every week.

do you remember the bucket appeal back in the nineties where they were asking for public donations to help them during the salary cap scandal? I have always despised them, probably from when they beat us in the major semi in 87, was only little back then, but it left an impression.
Sure do remember that. It's their constant whinging and playing the poor victim card which drives me nuts. I could tolerate them once but I now hate the club.

I was at an NRL run Rugby League coaching course the other month and to paraphrase one of the trainers and a QCup player who run the course:

"when Ricky Stuart was at Parramatta, his coaching was so complicated, with way too many ideas for the players to absorb in such a short time, that the players had no idea wtf the game plan was or what they had to do."

Moral of the story for us... don't over complicate training for the kids.

And the other point to take out of it is that Ricky Stuart has been a disastrous coach for years. An utterly inept fool. And he should have been giving, and continue to give 25% of his yearly wage to Brad Fittler - whose genius has assured him coaching positions for the best part of a decade now.

Little Sid James even had to mention our roster in the press conference. He couldn't help himself.

    Why?

Because it helps him keep his job if everyone thinks Canberra are behind the eight ball.
I wish Robbo could have responded that perhaps the difference between the Roosters and the Raiders may not so much be down to the players but the coaches.
