Walker sets record straight on his return and why he’s excited by potential DCE union

Nathan Cleary - another Complete fraud. Penrith 1 from 6 this year with Cleary at the helm.

Without Luai, who sparked all of the Penrith attack over the last 4 years, the Panthers are rudderless, and its Cleary who is now finally being shown up as useless.

In 80 minutes of football, the Panthers hardly looked like scoring a try against the Dolphins, and it took a fair dinkum air swipe at the ball from Bostock for the Panthers to get the try.

DCE a fraud? I don't agree but can see why people think that.

I think Cleary's GF wins over the past 4 years have given him enough runs on the board. That GF come back against Brisbane in 23 was incredible.

To be fair I know people thinks this settles the Sam partnering DCE issue, but it’s all BS. How many times in any sport has a player come out & gone against the clubs calls, questioned the coach etc. In what world is Walker going to come out & say look, I don’t believe the rumours, I don’t like DCE & don’t want him here or that he thinks Robbo & the club are wrong for wanting him?
Everyone has praised Townsend when in reality they know he’s junk. They’re not coming out & saying it was the wrong call to recruit him etc. They’re paid by the club, undertake media training etc & are told exactly what they can & can’t say.

I don't think our forward pack has really been that bad this year all things considered but 2026 would be a very very competitive forward pack, I do think we need to maybe sign one decent prop forward but we'd also have the experience on the bench in 2026 to blood a new young star if we have someone with potential also.

It's a valid point but why wouldn't Sam want to play footy with DCE week in and week out? Given that Sam is only 22 years old odds are he grew up watching DCE for QLD, cheered him on and was inspired by him. DCE is still a great player that would match Walker well, DCE is someone Walker could learn from and DCE is someone who could help take Sam to the next level.

The only thing that'd make Sam not interested is if DCE had a bad attitude or something but the captaincies he's held, the opportunities that DCE has received and the general consensus from those in the know is that he's a nice professional guy that any team would be lucky to have.

Comparing ages you can assume barring injury that Sammy has 10-15 years ahead of him.
Sammy has also seemed to be one who loves to learn and get better at his trade. So you would assume he would benefit from playing with DCE as he did learning from Keary and Cronk.
Afterall he is still only 22 and halfbacks get much better with age.
But the cynic in me tells me what else is Sammy going to tell the public about having DCE come and play along side of him especially if he takes his #7 jumper off him.
My rosey coloured RWB glasses combat that with the club has discussed this with Sammy and if they pursue DCE that they do it with his blessings.

Walkers camp has clearly been feeding the journos information for a few years now they are desperate for him to get to the Broncos but Sam himself seems to want to stay with us.

Nrl360 last night believe Roosters is all but a done deal to get DCE. I guess like Mitch Pearce , Hugo or Sandon or would be off to another club....probably Sandon. I'd rather not get DCE.

dce would stuff our plans big time. we hold some of the newest halves talent in the comp and our system seems to be working in developing them. DCE comes and we start losing these new guys to Bears or png. Worse case is if in 2026 dce and Sam are partners and are kicking ass they both potentially could be the qld halves pairing. then what. hugo and sando.

The bigger picture is Toby Rodwell,I’m sure the Club is making moves that will ultimately suit him down the track..
