For 2025 seems like upgrades and extensions for walker, Spencer and Watson should happen and hopefully before anyone gets a shot on Nov this year
Teddy is also off contract but will re sign and providing all is going well
cheese will need to lift to get further then 2025 or might see a reduced contract for 2026 on if both parties want to stay

I agree with throwing the kitchen sink at Walker.

Spencer? I’d prefer we wait. Yet to show he has the long minutes in him week in and out and off the start. Not saying he can’t do it. But all his great games have still been whilst coming on from the bench.

We're in all sorts of trouble if Walker turns out to be another Luke Brooks. Giving him $1.2 million a year for 5 years would be irresponsible imo. We can't be held to ransom just because another club offers him silly money. No one is bigger than the club!
Sam Walker is a proven product, far better player than Brooks, and is improving all the time.
He also kicks goals, gotta pay for that too.
.......exactly why the Broncos etc want him.
If we let him get away, well...we're nutz!

I have a sneaky suspicion that the Cheese will end up at Parra next year.

Walker is a clear second as the best halfback in the game and isn't close to reaching his full potential. Spencer is heading in the same direction
            Great news

Have to disagree. Walker has Cleary, Hughes, DCE and Moses ahead of him. I do believe in a few years Walker will be Number 1.

Maybe Hughes and definitely Cleary, but I wouldn't swap him for any except Cleary atm

                    Walker > Moses.

maybe not skill-wise at this stage, but at least Walker doesn’t whinge and acts like a knob.

I hope Spencer signs a very long-term deal and going on what he said several weeks ago (article below), I think and am confident he will definitely be wearing Easts colors for a long time. Hopefully for the rest of his career. And listening to Roosters radio (article also attached), he is just a very humble, likeable and unassuming person.

I'm also hopeful of the club signing Walker but I think some seriously crazy money may be offered his way from opposition clubs that may be too hard for him to refuse. I hope I'm wrong.

Proven product? Wasn't he dropped last year? Sam has played well for 5 months, but still does some silly things and is our most penalised for offside play.
Not sure Watson is proven either.
Spencer has been doing the same thing for years, he is proven. Lindsay, Teddy proven.
Who else? Angus Yes. Not Cheese or Dom Young, they need to play at their current level for at least a year.
Sam isn't in the top 3 halfbacks that being Moses, Cleary, DCE and the he knows that.
When he is, and that could be after we win the 2024 Grand Final, then he can ask for 1 mill plus.

If we let walker go who steps in? who do we buy? There isn’t much else out there
even Latrell and Joey have been dropped so…
Conner has all season and in 2022 just missed games through injury
cheese has shown it at storm and dom young was the best winger in the comp last year at a mediocre knights side

THIS. It’s slim pickings out there for halfbacks. Do we really want to count pennies now and give Sam Walker a reason to demolish us when he hits his mid 20s, when halfbacks generally hit their peak? He is going to be something special, and that’s not just me saying it, that’s coming from immortals and possible future immortals like Joey Johns and Billy Slater. If we’ve got to pay, I’d rather we pay from the pocket now than on the paddock later.

So where do you draw the line?

Would you give him $1.6 mill a year if the Tigers were silly enough to offer that amount?

While Nick is in charge no one will get silly money. Don't worry Nick has plan B C and D ready if Walker and his father ask for more than what Nick thinks he is worth.
It will be a fair offer, but it wont be a million.
Just like Latrell and his manager, if you upset Nick it doesn't matter how much you cry, there is no coming back.
