Very disappointing, but at least we've had a while to prepare ourselves for this news.

Until I know otherwise, I will continue to harbor the hope that he will return in a few years and dominate for us in the #1.

This will challenge those who despise Suaalii.

He will be back 2026 and play fullback. 2 yrs then retire and move up here on the GC and run the Ipswich development programm

A better fullback than Teddy. Anyway life goes on. Hope the always cashed up coach has a plan.

Sad to see but can’t begrudge him setting himself up with extra $$$ and travel the world a bit before coming back home to the RWB . He has been exceptional as a player and character , and has given us his best.

              Shithouse news now it's confirmed

With the departures we most likely have at seasons end....we would be definitely eyeing off someone. We most definitely aren't covering our losses with replacements from in house.....and if we are, it would be years before we're a genuine title threat again

Not sure if I am reading more into it but I don't think Joseph Manu will be back.

“I have cherished my time playing rugby league for the Roosters so it’s been a tough decision to leave the club and NRL. I will always be grateful to wear the Roosters jersey and to everyone who has supported me and provided me with some incredible opportunities,” said Manu via a club-issued statement released on Tuesday.

The recruitment and retention department should be sacked. It is obviously about the $$$ and not about being an All Black

There is no mention of how long the new contract is for ... if it's 12 months, then he could be back in May next year??

Or am I in denial and just clutching at straws??

                      Big call.

The query would be whether he could do it week in, week out, for 26 rounds a season.

No he isn't. Teddy from 2018-2020 was the best player in the game without equal Manu has never been at that level as good as he has been with us

He's leaving for an absurd amount of money that you can't cripple your salary cap paying a centre or almost anyone in the league that isn't Nathan Cleary

Still hurts regardless of how long we have known it’s going to happen. He has been an absolute gun. Shame he won’t get to 200 games. With Suualii, Joey and potentially Tupes gone next year we are going to be thin out wide. Both Billy the kid and Toia constantly injured and Dom looking like a huge Dud. I am hanging onto the delusion it is all part of a plan for him to return in 1 to 2 years to finish his career.
