He needs to go for the sake of the future of the club at the end of 2024. Walker is the future, Sandon Smith also. I would rather try with Sandon and Sam in 2025 and dismally fail then lose either of the two of them and have a half-decent 2025 with an ageing Keary. The difference between the elite mid 30's halves and Kez is that they are/were organisers who had very solid defensive games with a primary focus on kick pressure and organising. Kez has never been good in those areas and is a runner/instinct player first and foremost. A damn good one aswell.

Would suck to see him play for another club but if he wants to continue past 2024 I'd be willing to see it because it shouldn't be with us! The fact he is a legend and such a likeable bloke yet 95% of the fanbase agrees with me shows that he needs to go.
I still think he has a bit to offer and showed it towards the end of this year.
Put Cleary next to him and he would be ten times the player Luai is not that that is saying much.
Not putting Walker down but he has a long way to go to control a game and Keary isn't the type of player to do the controlling imo. I don't feel they compliment each other at this stage like many had hoped.
Having said that, Keary in 2025???? Hmmmmmm that is a hard one but I and leaning towards a No but unless we can get someone like Dearden then Keary might be a stop gap for another year. I don't know if either Sandon or Walker are 5/8s.

Brandon is a must to keep. He will get better with a year under his belt.

Completely agree mate. Not saying that Walker is the finished article and the be all end all for us but he is still ridiculously young and has a high ceiling. If he can have a career like Keary then we'll be set up well and he'll be a success. The two of them together however is just not going to work long-term and I tend to think will work even less when Kez is 33-34. If Sam Walker wasn't so young, I'd be saying we could keep Keary if we got a controlling big body half.

Agree Luai is heavily protected and propped up by Cleary and the Riff system. Wouldn't want to see him anywhere near a Chooks jersey.
