  • Michael Jennings???

First id like to say that Michael Jennings time at the Roosters was exceptional. He played his best seasons with us and who will ever never forget his grand final try to seal the premiership. 41 tries in 71 games- he was brilliant.

However, surely a rising 36 year old who is returning after a 3 year hiatus for steroid use is best suited to park football. I know its just a train and trial contract but what's the point?

    Incidentally where you all been?

Train and trial according to rumours? Curious to see how the conversation woulda gone. 'Yep so we've got Manu, Smith, Young and Sua'ali'i all possibly playing centre so the best we can offer you is a train and trial'.

Big commitment driving into Moore Park every day for train and trial money. There must be some motivation other than cash? See how he goes...

Probably looking after him getting him a run in Reggie’s if he goes ok he might get a run with another club or more likely super league to finish up his Career with a bit of extra cash

He’ll be in the centres before Suaalii.

I’m sure he will play a part at some stage of the season
Life is like a game. You should try to enjoy it.

While he is widely recognised for his attacking ability, Jenko was also one of the best defensive centers going around. He was fabulous for us in 2013, doing the same job Josh Morris did for us more recently. I wonder if he has been given this opportunity to give him a chance to prove he is worth an NRL spot, but mostly to mentor our young centers who ALL need help wit the defensive side of their game?

With our injury history you can pencil him in the 17 by Round 11

I don't like this signing at all, I can only assume it is to help him out and give him some structure after the last few years.
There's no guarantee he makes it past the pre-season but I guess with no Toia for most the year and Corey Allan confirmed gone there is a centre spot available for NSW Cup

                King
                Murphy
                Jennings
                Pauga
                A.Young

Is a fast and potent reserve grade backline

How I miss the Jenko Toops centre wing combo.

                    It's a NO from me.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

Descent backup (if fit) if only for his defensive game. Time will tell if he’s still up to it.

His game fell away quite quickly after he left us 8 years ago, not sure I’m expecting anything great from him at 36yrs old.

would he be the oldest player in the NRL at that age?

Yeah this may well be the case. I guess it’s where his head is at if his body can cope with the NRL side of things. You’d imagine he’s lost a lot of pace.

Don’t think there is any risk in this at all
he is on a train and trial deal so if he is not up to it he won’t be given a top 30 spot, and if he is he will be given a min contract so won’t cost much coin playing in res and backing up for nrl

with Toia out for most of next year and let’s be honest smith getting through a full season and suaali not being a centre of he has some form left be the left edge centre spot is still open

and If he is still decent he will put some pressure on the back 5 to perform to keep their spots
