The Roosters have ensured some of their best talent will not hit the open market come
November 1 after securing forwards Nat Butcher and Naufau Whyte to long-term deals.
Both were off-contract at the end of next season but the club has made a significant play to keep the pair for at least the next three years.

Butcher, 26, has established himself as a key part of the Roosters' forward pack with 126 games to his name. Whyte is part of the new generation of Roosters players. The 21-year-old played nine games this year.
With Angus Crichton still locked in talks to cross codes and ioin rugby, the Roosters are ensuring they have the forward depth to cover his impending departure.
Winger Junior Pauga has also been rewarded for his strong season with a two-year top 30 contract. He arrived at the Roosters on a train and trial deal this season before going on to play in nine matches.
Big news for Pauga there! Kinda disappointing there's no starting spot for him given that he's such a handy slot-in player.
Still dunno what's happening with us having Teddy, Toops, Manu, Smith, Sua'ali'i, Young, Murphy and Pauga (probably all on top 30 contracts?)
Assuming people are banking on learning from the best and having (potentially) two wing spots opening up in 2025.
Think your last sentence captures it Greta.
For someone like Lewis Murphy, a 21 year old coming off an ACL - this is a season where he can build a platform to try and cement a spot in the top 13 by 2025.
I'm sure the club is looking at looking up both Wong and May, just waiting to see what Angus does.
May's great form at the back end of the season would've attracted plenty of interest from other clubs. I reckon he's worth somewhere between $350k and $500k.

Great news
This is why we are such a high performing club
Nat is held in high regard while Whyte as an SST vibe all over him
you need depth so atm can’t find a spot in our top 17 for suaali, pauga, Murphy, sandon smith, Whyte, and maybe Egan and Gus critchon
critchon and or suaali maybe gone next year
have plenty of players coming off contract in 2024 however with JWH retiring, and unknown on tupou or Keary if they re sign, retire or head on!
Wong and May are musts while we know Manu will resign and sitili a good chance
we have a great 17, and great depth with players pushing each other particularly backrow so if we can some luck with injuries you never know
The dogs are sniffing around everywhere (as dogs do), evidently they are going after Josh Curran as well….talk about a bottomless cap…when is their $$$ gonna run out?

Murphy will be lucky to make NSW Cup. Pretty confident he will back in soap dodger land before ever playing an NRL game. Pauga shouldn’t have much to worry about in holding Murphy off.
